Womad 1997

This is an old pic from a gig at Womad Reading in about 1997. The power went out during the gig but we carried on regardless until it came back on. The crowd loved it and felt compelled to bow. This is the only known photo of Peter on stage with the Peatbogs without his kilt.

Celtic Connections 2001

This photo was taken at our gig in the Arches during Celtic Connections in 2001. This was during a time of transition in the band as Nurudin had just left with Leighton taking his place. It was Ben's last gig as we played with two fiddlers for the only time. In front of seven TV cameras, it was Roddy Neilson's first gig for us on fiddle.

Dave Town in 1998

A very young Dave Town doing sound for us in the Bongo club in Edinburgh back in about 1998. It was our third Hogmanay gig of the night, having already played in Dunfermline and Edinburgh. It was about three in the morning by this stage, and being worse for wear, David managed to get a hold of a Delek to help him out. Back in Arran, David was a big Dr Who fan.

Innes at Womad 1999

This is Innes playing at Womad Caceras in 1999. As it was one of Innes's kilted moments, Visit Scotland used the image for our poster when we played for them in New York in April 05. He was delighted as it took nearly seven years of hard wear and tear of him.

Peter

Peter

This is Peter during the same festival. Nurudin was at home having a baby so we had the one and only Andy Thorburn with us on keyboards. It was a magnificent setting for a festival in a medievil Spanish town.

Caceras

Caceras

This is a view of the crowd from the stage at Caceras. There were about 13,000 squeezed into a small square. People were hanging of balconies and filled every space for 360 degrees round us.

Tom as front man

Tom who has been with us since 2000 has spent a great deal of time studying and learning African music. He stayed with Ali Farka Toure in Mali for six months learning what he could from the old master. This is a picture of him enjoying himself too much as lead singer and frontman.

Roddy and Tom

This is a picture of Roddy and Tom in about 2002. Roddy played with us for just over two years before he left to spend more time with his family. He played the fiddle on 'Welcome to Dun Vegas' and wrote 'Skeabost Monsoon'.

Ali

Ali

This is our former guitarist Ali Pentland getting his new guitar from Roger Bucknall at Fylde. He looks like he has just met Santa. Ali was a founding member of the band and we had many good times with him before he left in 2000. Ali played on 'Mellowocity' and 'Faerie Stories'.
