Tom gets published

2 March 2012

Peatbog Faeries guitarist Tom Salter has been flexing his literary muscles and has recently had an article published on Critical African Studies. Tom writes about the way Scottish musical traditions are integrated with new international influences and new technology by, amongst others, the Peatbog Faeries.

This is very similar to African bands Tom has played with that do the same thing with African traditions. According to many of the African musicians Tom interviewed, that's what makes the music modern - not being 'Western'.

Tom recently lost his plucking right hand index finger and the use of his ring finger in 'such an horrendous accident' he'd rather we didn't describe it. Like Django Reinhardt and Tomy Iommi (Black Sabbath guitarist), Tom plans, if possible, to make a virtue of his loss and like Dave Allen try and get some comic mileage out of it whenever possible.
