Day one of the tour sees us play at Telfords Warehouse in Chester. The heat in the low ceiling club was incredible and the band started the tour losing a few pounds in weight. We stayed at Sandy's farm just across the border in Wales, where he entertained us and watered us till the small hours.

Next is the Sheep Festival in Presteigne in East Wales. The crowd were great and sales of "Welcome to Dun Vegas" got of to a good start. Great hospitality again on our second visit to Presteigne.

The third gig was in Dartford Central Park on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere with people of all ages dancing the afternoon away. Tom could not make the first three dates so we had Seamus MacLennan from Skye deputizing on guitar. He did really well and kept us all amused with his dry and not always clean humor. Next morning we say goodbye to Seamus, send him home to Dunvegan and head of to the Dorset coast to stay with Charlie at the Mitre and Square pub in Worth Matraving for a couple of days off.

Innes loves stone and he was delighted to find, outside the sun-baked pub, a stone carving festival. While his eyes were popping out the rest of us got stuck into the tasty local beer. Charlie was very good to us and asked us if we would play a session in the pub that night. We had some good tunes with the locals. Leighton is shown here not showing very great urgency. Session in the pub
saying goodbye to charlie After sunbathing, sightseeing, sessioning and sipping for two days we have to say goodbye to Charlie and pile back into the bus to head along the road to Cardiff. We decided to give ourselves plenty of time to see some sights.
We have passed by things on the way to gigs many times, so today we decided to stop and see some monuments. First up on the road was Stonehenge. Funnily enough it looked just like it does in books except for the Druids who didn't seem to be about. Stonehenge was pretty good but we still prefer Calanish. If the people who build Stonehenge took a leaf out of the book of the Lewis people, they would have realized that it would have been better to not built their monument next to a big road. Nice effort though!
 us Avebury stone

Next up was Avebury. We all thought this was one of the most impressive stones. Innes especially liked it. You can see from the photo that it began to rain heavily, given that four of us are bracing ourselves and Roddy is wearing shorts. Tom was due to meet us in Cardiff so he is missing from the photo.

Tom thought he would fly down as the £60 flight was only £10 dearer than the train. Little did he realize that with £120 excess baggage and £30 parking that his calculations were slightly out. However it was good to see the old groover and the gig on an open air stage in Cardiff was lots of fun.

The next gig was always going to be fun. Brian and Marie Roberts from Kinver near Birmingham had seen us earlier in the year in Ayr and took the responsibility of putting on a gig in their local Community Centre. They put in a lot of effort and pulled off a great night for everyone. We ended the night back in their kitchen, sessioning till the wee hours. We very even introduced to Satan the pet tarantula.

From here we went on to our yearly visit to Hebdon Bridge. It's a mad wee gig but it is always a favorite with the band. We have got to know the place quite well. Dave and Eleanor from the Trades Club always look after us well and give us a relaxing time.

The next gig was in Newcastle and you can always relay on the Geordies to jump about and go mad. The ceiling tiles in the Opera House Bistro were jumping with the decibels and every time we hit a certain frequency dust fell from the ceiling onto Leighton and his keyboards. That vas very amusing. Pictured hear, we absolutely stuff ourselves in a great "eat all you can" Chinese restaurant.

York was next up. If we though Telford's Warehouse was hot this was ridiculous.Fibbers was roasting.  However we sweated through it and the dancers kept us from fading.

The next morning was an early start as we were heading to Dublin for the Irish leg of the tour. The Guinness was great and locals were as receptive as ever. From Dublin we headed down the road to Waterford where we were to spend two days and do three gigs. Once again we found the Irish audiences to be right up for some Celtic Boogie.

The tour was coming to an end and all that was left to do was the ferry and six hour drive to the Sidmouth festival followed next day by the ten hour drive to Glasgow and the six hour drive home to Skye the following day. We hoped the gig would be fun to make our lives easier. We were not disappointed. The marquee was packed and the crown went mad from the first number to the end. We had a really good last night and the big journey home no longer seemed so bad.

It was homewards to bonnie Scotland after that. Till next time............

Can the new guys handle the pace ?
